Nicholas Tubbs has been working continuously in the property industry since 1979, after turning down an Army Scholarship to attend university.

In 1988 Nicholas was appointed Chief Executive of Stickley and Kent Ltd, becoming the country’s youngest Chief Executive, before selling the company and setting up his own property development business.

In 2013, together with Ken McMillan, Nicholas formed Armed Forces and Veterans Estates Ltd and AF&V Launchpad, a veterans’ charity. Nicholas remains a Director of AF&V Estates Ltd and became Chair of the trustees of Launchpad in January 2017.

Ken McMillan MBE

Ken McMillan joined as a soldier at 17 and then rose through the ranks to become a commissioned officer in 2006, having served in all major conflicts since the Falklands War.

In October 2009 and after 25 years' service Ken left the Regular Army and then, in partnership with Nick Tubbs, he set up Armed Forces and Veterans Estates Ltd and the veterans’ charity AF&V Launchpad.

Ken was awarded the MBE in 1998 for services to the Army. He continues to serve as a Major in the Army Reserves, most recently in the role of Battery Commander of 207 (City of Glasgow) Battery with 105th Regiment, Royal Artillery. He is currently deployed to the British Army Training Unit in Suffield, Canada.

Lucy Perriam

Lucy Perriam was educated in Newcastle and graduated from Girton College Cambridge in 1985. She worked for two years as anaccount manager for J Walter Thompson Advertising in London. She became one of the first TA Public Information Officers, before being commissioned as a full time officer into the WRAC. She came top of her Sandhurst course. Following a series of postings, including Adjutant of the HQ Signals Regiment, she retired and worked for several years in Primary schools in East Lothian, as well as bringing up her family.

Since 2008 she has been employed as a private PA in Edinburgh, has been a volunteer member of the Children’s Panel. In 2013 she trained as a mentor with homeless charity The Rock Trust. She became a trustee of Launchpad in2016.

Dr Philip Mixer

Philip, for the past 30 years, has successfully combined a career as a full time General Practitioner in a Yorkshire market town where he is the senior partner, with a career in the Army Reserve, culminating in his appointment as Deputy Director of Army Medical Services in the rank of Brigadier.

His medical interests include teaching and training. Within his practice he heads an Occupational Health Consultancy. In addition he has held a part time judicial appointment within the Tribunal Service and was recently appointed to the War Pensions & Armed Forces Compensation Chamber (WPAFCC).

He has been fortunate in being recognised for his services with appointment as an Honorary Physician to her Majesty the Queen, a Deputy Lieutenant in the East Riding of Yorkshire and receiving the Queen’s Volunteer Reserve Medal.

David Shaw CBE

David Shaw concluded his military career as the Major General commanding 2nd Division and Governor of Edinburgh Castle in 2012. He is co-founder ofthe veterans’ charity AF&V Launchpad and has been Chair of Trustees since 2013.

He has a significant background in change management and public relations, and among other appointments, he was Director of the Army's Media and Communication. David was awarded the CBE in 2012 for services to the Army. He is now a Director of Unicorn ARC Ltd and a Visiting Professor in Leadership and Communication at the Aberdeen Business School.

Having co-founded and been Chair of trustees from inception of the charity until Jan 17, he is now CEO of the charity under contract.
