News New Manager for Avondale House We welcomed Simon Lock as the new Manager at Avondale House on 19 March 2018. A veteran himself, Simon served in the Army for 22 years. Simon served in the Royal Artillery in a variety of appointments and gained many pertinent experiences for this new job of his, including leading people, managing projects and deploying on operational tours. He is trauma-risk management (TRiM) trained and understands the pressures of service on the armed forces. Also, He has worked for the Princes Trust and was involved in getting a team of vulnerable youths to deliver a community project and he has continued as a mentor in the Trust. Before leaving the Army, he served in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and built up good relations with a number of local authorities, charities and civic leaders. He has also volunteered with the charity 'Hope' and he intends to bring all this experience and his contacts to benefit Launchpad's Avondale House. He said "I am very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to give veterans that pass through Avondale House the supporting framework to help them succeed. My team and I will ensure Avondale House is a friendly, warm and stable place that provides the cement for the veterans' foundations of success."
