News Launchpad's Veterans Help the Local Community Launchpad's Veterans Help the Local Community Launchpad Veterans transform Youth Drop in Centre Veterans at Launchpad's Avondale House in Newcastle were appalled at the state of a run-down church drop-in centre on the Byker Estate and decided to do something about it. Over a 3 day period, the veterans along with support from B&Q and a myriad of local companies, transformed the centre with a lick of paint and new carpets; then they fitted it out with a 50" Smart TV, X BOX 1, new furniture and fittings, games, play equipment and storage solutions that left the kids absolutely thrilled. Padre Phil said, "I've always doubted miracles but now I know for certain they are true. What these guys have achieved in just 3 days is incredible. I know some of these guys have experienced trauma and the evil of war and famine but to have them commit to helping our church to look after the youth of Byker makes me feel very proud indeed. They are a powerful team that get things done." Following the success of this mission, AF&V are looking at how to support future community causes. We'll be looking for both community projects and supporters – watch this space.
